While ultraviolet radiation can be harmful to humans, reptiles need UVA and UVB to thrive in their environment, and this Thrive 3-in-1 Mercury Vapor Bulb provides both. In terms of UVA, this long-wavelength light (320-400 nm) helps maintain reptile vision and benefits overall health. In addition, UVA bulbs help provide the radiant heat that your ectothermic pet requires. In terms of UVB, this medium-wavelength light (290-320 nm) promotes calcium absorption and healthy bones. Directions:
To achieve appropriate UVB exposure, it is recommended that your bulb is no closer than 8 inches, and no farther than 24 inches, from your pet (see Lighting Distance Guide chart on side panel). Gently fasten the light bulb into a UL or ETL approved incandescent fixture. Do not plug the light fixture into an electrical socket until the bulb is fastened firmly to the fixture. Place the light fixture outside the habitat. Never place the light fixture inside the habitat, as a hot light bulb can harm your pet.
Advice for Use:
It is recommended to replace your bulb every 1 year. Use this bulb with Thrive 8.5-inch lamp fixture. Choose light bulb and wattage based on species, size of habitat, and environmental temperatures. Monitor habitat temperature with thermometer (sold separately)to ensure it is appropriate for your pet.
